Philadelphia is known for more than just its affinity for the gooey, chewy goodness that is the cheesesteak. The City of Brotherly Love is also a mecca for some fantastic shopping opportunities. No matter what your budget is, or what style you prefer, options abound. Apartments near Center City shopping make it simple to take advantage of some of the area’s hottest spots. To make it easier for you to get started, we thought we’d share some of our favorite popular shopping districts in Center City.
Rittenhouse Row
Opportunities here run the full spectrum, whether you want top-of-the-line name brands—which you can find at outlets like Barney’s, rag & bone, and Nicole Miller, among others—or hip and trendy looks that cater to a younger crowd and help complete any urban warrior’s wardrobe—such as Urban Outfitters, H&M, and Uniqlo. There is also an abundance of independent boutique shops, if you’re on the hunt for an outfit you’d be hard-pressed to find from any chain retailer.
Midtown Village
This is where you’ll want to visit in order to find more of the local resellers. Throughout the variety of shops, you’ll find myriad hand-crafted items, like soaps, stationary, and jewelry. Don’t expect things you’d be accustomed to seeing on any major department store shelf. Of note is Open House, a boutique shop that stocks a wide variety of unique items for the home, including both furniture and accessories. The store is owned by renowned Philadelphia restaurateurs Marcie Turney and Valerie Safran, who also own and run a number of other establishments in the immediate area.
West Market Office District
The modern office section of the city has seen a rapid boom in recent years, not just for businesses but also for residences. So it’s only natural that shopping options follow suit. But still, the best place in the area to get started is The Shops at Liberty Place. The hub has been around seemingly forever, and there’s a reason why. Whatever it is you’re looking for, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to find it here. From upscale clothing shops, like J. Crew and Bloomingdale’s, to specialty stores like Godiva and Kiehls, it’s the best way to find just about everything all in one spot. (Not to mention, having an on-site food court makes it exceptionally easy to refuel if you’re on an all-day excursion.)
