During the current pandemic, safely getting the things you need to area apartment rentals can be stressful. With varying information on best practices circulating, it’s confusing to understand what precautions you should actually take when receiving deliveries at your home. Our top priority is to help keep our residents safe and healthy during these unprecedented times. Whether you can’t go out due to self-quarantining or you’d rather just limit exposure to the outside world, having things delivered to your building is an increasingly helpful option.
Safety Tips for Receiving Deliveries at Your Apartment
- Collect Packages Quickly.
It’s very likely that since you’re already home and anticipating a delivery, you’ll be quick to collect your items. But, as a reminder, residents should pick up any food delivery ASAP and all other deliveries within three days of receipt at our buildings. Otherwise, the packages will be deemed as abandoned. If you do happen to be out and won’t be returning home for an extended period, just let your building manager know if you expect to receive any packages or deliveries and arrangements will be made. - Choose Contactless.
To reduce the possibility of infection, many companies are offering completely contactless delivery. If you’d prefer a contactless experience at any of our buildings, inform management (and the company delivering your item) and arrangements may be made to have your delivery left outside of your door. This is particularly important for those that are self-quarantining in apartment rentals after a possible COVID-19 exposure. As we are limiting the interaction between residents and our maintenance staff, we ask that you ensure that you’ll be home if you’re expecting the delivery of large items or furniture. We are recommending that maintenance staff does not enter occupied apartments except in the case of an emergency. - Clean It Up.
According to the CDC, there is little chance of catching COVID-19 from cardboard packaging. However, it can live on other surfaces for a period of time depending on the material. It is recommended that you wash your hands after unpacking your items and discarding packaging materials. As we are seeing a sharp increase in the number of deliveries to our properties, we ask that all residents break down and dispose of boxes in recycling areas as soon as possible. Once you’ve gotten rid of the packaging your deliveries came in, wipe down surfaces in your home, do not touch your face, and wash your hands thoroughly to be safe.
Being able to get what you need while reducing your risk of infection is crucial. Following a few simple steps can keep both you and our staff safe. If you have questions about procedures for deliveries, or anything else, feel free to reach out to Reinhold property management at any time.
