Old City: Philly’s Next Hot Food Neighborhood

Though famous for its rich history, Old City is in the midst of creating one delicious future. From revamped mainstays to ambitious newcomers to the continued rise of outdoor gatherings, one might even call the area Philly’s next hot food neighborhood.

Old Dogs

Whoever said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks clearly never visited Old City. Restaurants like Han Dynasty, Khyber Pass Pub, The Gaslight, Nick’s Roast Beef, The Revolution House, and The Plough & The Stars are working hard to provide customers with cutting edge food experiences. From 40-tap beer systems to Irish style vegan dining, these Old City staples are sure to delight your taste buds.

Newcomers

One thing’s for sure –  there will always be room for culinary connoisseurs in Philadelphia. In the past few years, Old City has become home to an impressive list of up-and-comers. Whether you’d prefer breakfast for dinner at High Street on Market or a uniquely European experience at La Peg, this historic neighborhood has it all.

Outdoor Oasis

The only thing better than delicious fare is being able to enjoy all that tastiness under the sun. Local farmer’s markets/street fairs like N3RD Market and hoppy havens like Independence Beer Garden have people flocking to the Old City streets. Not to mention the revitalization of SquareBurger and the ever-increasing popularity of riverfront pop-up, Spruce Street Harbor Park. With all these outdoor options, it’s hard to think of a reason to stay inside this summer.
